Robert Dumbrell
Robert Dumbrell is a PhD Candidate working on photoluminescence-based characterisation of silicon solar cells in the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of New South Wales. From 2011 to 2014, he was a manufacturing and research process engineer for Suntech Power in Australia and China. He was a Co-op Scholar in Photovoltaics and Solar Energy Engineering at UNSW from 2006 to 2010.
His research focuses on the theory and applications of dynamic photoluminescence (PL) techniques such as Suns-PL and quasi-steady-state PL (QSSPL) to silicon solar cells. Using a recently developed front detection PL measurement setup, his recent activity has involved applying the techniques studying carrier recombination at metal contacts. Through computer simulations he has also been active in further developing the theoretical understanding of the measurement techniques.
