Oliver Kunz

Dr Oliver Kunz completed a PhD in the field of photovoltaics (UNSW 2009), a BEng (Engineering Physics; University of Oldenburg, 2002), and a MEng (Engineering Physics, University of Oldenburg, 2002). Oliver has been awarded to prestigious Australian EIPRS PhD scholarship. He has worked for 4 years in the solar industry (CSG Solar and Suntech R&D Australia) with the final role as Senior Research Scientist heading the department of characterisation and tool development. During his PhD and his work, he has gained significant experience in both thin-film and bulk Si solar cell technology in research and production. In his photovoltaic career, he has published and co-authored 40 research publications.
He currently works as a post-doctoral researcher in the Photoluminescence Group at the UNSW School of Photovoltaics and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE) where he performs circuit modelling for solar cells, and is involved in outdoor PL imaging, high intensity PL imaging with localised excitation, PL imaging of modules, research collaborations with industry and magnetic field imaging of PV cells and modules.
His passion is contributing to the transformation of our current destructive system based on fossil fuel extraction and high-volume consumption into one that is sustainable, non-destructive and fundamentally more democratic and fair.
