Daniel Chung

Daniel Chung received his Bachelor degree in Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of New South Wales. Daniel accumulated three years’ experience at various photovoltaics manufacturers before returning to UNSW in 2015 to undertake a Ph.D. His main interest is in characterisation, especially using techniques that are applicable in the manufacturing environment.

He is currently exploring applications for photoluminescence measurements on silicon bricks/ ingots after crystallisation. At this early stage of the manufacturing process, bulk lifetime and other material properties can be easily measured using photoluminescence imaging. It is expected that this technique is useful for appraising crystal growth and understanding the impact of initial material quality on final solar cell performance.
